Barcode turns 57

Yesterday, the barcode celebrated it's 57th birthday, and in honor of one of the most important inventions to hit the supply chain, barcoding.com is giving folks a chance to create their own barcode, based on any number sequence they'd like. I've always wanted my own barcode, and here it is:

  1. What a fine example of social conditioning. Did you know that, 1000 pages into the health care "reform" bill, there are directives to implant microchips in our bodies? Are you sure that's what YOU have always wanted?

    How Orwellian.

  2. I wasn't being serious when I said that I've always wanted my own barcode. And I'm only up to page 568 in the reform bill, but will be sure to check out the part about the microchips when I get there. Will they turn me into a socialist?

On a serious note, though, we all need to turn down the paranoia meter.

  6. No no...it's time to turn up the paranoid meter. It's only a matter of time before we all RFIDd like the Mexicans have started to use (gov't and military). Biometrics is the last goodbye for freedom and privacy. Biometric fingerprint scanners are just like barcodes...only you don't need to have a barcode installed. Run for the hills. We all fffffed.

  8. Anonymous #1 here...

I agree w/ anonymous #2. Doesn't mean we need to live in fear, but we do need to be actually reading this legislation that will have a BIG impact on our standard of living. Most congresspeople don't read it, and a senator from my state even voted AGAINST a recent iniative to give every bill at least 72 hours before it can be voted on...

When people fear its government, that's tyranny.
When a government fears its people, that's liberty. We need to get back to the latter.
